1300 YEARS HISTORY of MINO

• 7th–8th Century: 

  Mino origins were influenced by Chinese and Korean pottery introduced to Japan.

• Momoyama Period (1573–1603): 

  Mino ceramics rose in popularity, intertwined with the tea ceremony culture—an art form meticulously practiced by Japanese nobility, samurai, and later, the upper echelons of society.

• Edo Period (1603–1868): 

  Mino diversified, focusing on tea ware and decorative pieces, gaining widespread recognition.

​

• Meiji Period (1868–1912): 

  Industrialization increased Mino ceramic production, reaching broader markets.

​

• 20th Century: 

  Mino adapted to modern needs, focusing on tableware for everyday use while retaining traditional craftsmanship.
